Emotiv Flex 2 Saline
EEG system up to 32 channels without gel
For laboratories, universities and R&D teams that need up to 32 EEG channels, flexible electrode placement and wireless operation with saline electrodes. This is a research system, not a medical device.
Modular Flex Cap
The Flex Cap has 74 holes arranged according to the 10–20 system, allowing you to tailor the electrode layout to a specific study. The system supports 32 recording electrodes and 2 reference electrodes, enabling configurations focused on selected brain regions. This flexibility matters in scientific research, BCI projects and experiments that require precise data collection from specific areas of the cerebral cortex. Instead of working with one fixed layout, you configure it for the purpose of the study.

Saline electrodes without gel
The Saline version uses reusable, moistened saline electrodes. Signal quality still depends on electrode preparation, skin contact and the study procedure.

Wireless Bluetooth transmission 5.2
EEG data goes to the computer via Bluetooth 5.2, in real time and without cables restricting the participant's movement. The system samples each channel at 128 or 256 SPS and transmits data at 16-bit resolution, supporting more accurate analysis. An advanced antenna design improves connection stability, making Flex 2 Saline suitable both for laboratory use and for more mobile research scenarios outside a controlled environment.

Data analysis in EmotivPRO
The purchase includes EmotivPRO Lite. Raw EEG data and frequency bands require a PRO licence, so the software plan must be selected according to the required export and analysis features.
9-axis motion sensor
In addition to EEG, Flex 2 Saline records motion using a 9-axis sensor that combines an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, with data transmission at up to 64 Hz. This lets you analyse brain activity and participant movement simultaneously, which is useful in neuroergonomics, human-computer interaction and behavioural research projects. Combining EEG and motion data provides a fuller picture of the user's responses in real time, without additional motion capture equipment.
Use cases
- Non-clinical EEG studies and BCI experiments
- projects requiring more channels and a custom electrode layout
- recording EEG signals and motion data away from a fixed workstation
Limitations, licenses and compatibility
Raw EEG data and frequency bands require an EmotivPRO licence. The purchase includes EmotivPRO Lite, but you should compare the required features and data export options before ordering. Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi are not supported. Caps are available in 54, 56 and 58 cm sizes, while preparing 32 electrodes requires a defined procedure, sufficient time and signal-quality checks.
Alternatives
Emotiv Insight has five channels and is simpler to set up, making it better suited to demonstrations, classes and quick prototypes. Flex 2 makes sense when channel count and freedom of placement matter more than setup time.
For businesses and universities
Before purchasing, determine the cap size, electrode arrangement, required licence, export format, data storage and procedures for working with participants. Diagnostic or medical applications should not be promised.

Frequently asked questions
No. The Saline version uses reusable saline electrodes. They still require preparation and a check that they are making proper contact with the skin.
Up to 32 recording channels and two configurable CMS/DRL reference electrodes.
Raw EEG data and frequency bands require a PRO licence. The purchase includes EmotivPRO Lite, so select the plan that meets the needs of your study.
Up to 6 hours. The actual time depends on the configuration and method of transmission.
