Insight uses semi-dry polymer sensors that are moistened with a small amount of the supplied fluid. They do not require a classic EEG gel.

Built-in IMU module tracks head movement across three axes by combining data from an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer. You can synchronise this information with EEG signals for more advanced analysis of user behaviour. This extends Insight to VR, AR and motion-control projects where accurate tracking of head orientation and movement dynamics is important.
The built-in battery provides many hours of use without frequent charging, while energy-efficient components support long research sessions. The headset has been designed for even weight distribution, while adjustable components accommodate different head shapes. Insight therefore remains comfortable even through many hours of work in a laboratory or in the field.
Insight records five EEG channels at AF3, AF4, T7, T8 and Pz, so it does not replace a 32-channel system. Access to Mental Commands, Performance Metrics and Facial Expressions depends on the licence; affective metrics are not available in workplace or educational deployments. EmotivPRO can run locally, while other services and the Cortex API may require an account, authorisation or cloud access.
Emotiv Flex 2 is more suitable when a project requires more channels and flexible electrode placement. Insight has the advantage of simpler setup and greater portability for demonstrations and early prototypes.
