What Quest 3 offers

1. Soczewki pancake. That’s the biggest difference. The image is sharp across the entire screen: not just in the center: and the headset is thinner and better balanced. In the 3S, the Fresnel lenses provide sharpness in the center with slight blurring and “halos” from bright elements at the edges. This doesn’t interfere with gaming; however, when reading text, watching movies, or working with virtual screens, the difference is noticeable.
2. Higher resolution and wider field of view (110° instead of 96°). Less of a “binoculars” effect.
3. Smooth interpupillary distance adjustment up to 71 mm. This is convenient for people with a wider interpupillary distance and for teams where multiple people use the goggles; in the 3S model, the adjustment range is 58–68 mm.
4. 512 GB. Large games take up over a dozen gigabytes; the 128 GB in the base 3S fills up quickly if you install a lot of titles.

What the Quest 3 doesn’t offer: it isn’t faster (same processor and RAM), it doesn’t have a different store, nor does it offer other ambient awareness features in everyday use.

• My first VR headset at home, mainly for games and fitness. Your choice depends on how much image sharpness outside the centre of the lenses matters to you.
• Kits for schools and businesses containing 8–20 units, where sessions last 10–20 minutes and a shared app library is needed. The same processor means the same educational and training apps.
• When most of the time is spent on PCVR (headset as a screen for a computer): the image transmitted from the PC is compressed anyway, and the Quest 3’s better lenses offer less of an advantage than in standalone applications.

When to choose Quest 3

• Movies, virtual screens, text editing, presentations For customers: sharpness and field of view make a difference right from the start.
• One headset for years to come for adult users who will notice the difference in image quality.
• A lot of installed apps (512 GB) or a reluctance to manage storage.
• Company presentations and eventswhere first impressions matter most.

Storage options: 128, 256, or 512 GB

A VR game typically takes up 2–15 GB, an educational app 1–5 GB, and a high-quality 360° video several gigabytes. 128 GB is enough for a dozen or so titles, 256 GB for several dozen, and 512 GB rarely fills up. For school bundles with 5–8 apps, 128 GB is enough; for a gamer at home, it’s better to go with 256 GB.
