PICO Motion Tracker
Tracking the body without sensors in the room
For users of compatible PICO headsets who want to add leg and full-body tracking in applications that support PICO Motion Tracker, without installing base stations.
Full figure with two trackers
Two ankle trackers are enough for the AI algorithm to recreate motion in 24 skeletal points, meaning virtually the entire body rather than only the head and hands. Average positional deviation is approximately 5 cm, while step recognition is at least 98% effective, so movement in the game or app corresponds to the user's real actions. This is intended for people who want to dance, exercise or play in VR with their whole body, not just their hands.

No sensors in the room
Unlike systems based on external base stations, PICO Motion Tracker tracks movement independently using gyroscope, accelerometer and infrared sensors built into every tracker, together with its connection 2.4 GHz to the headset. Nothing needs to be mounted on the walls and the room does not need to be calibrated. Calibrating the complete set takes approximately 5 seconds after putting on the trackers.

Tracking parameters in PICO tests
Laboratory tests recorded approximately 20 ms delay, an average positional deviation of 5 cm and at least 98% step recognition. Performance in a particular app depends on its support for the trackers, the configuration and the conditions.

Light and long-acting
Each tracker weighs about 27 g without the strap and mounting cushion. Battery life exceeds 25 hours continuous use in compatible games; actual time depends on how you use and auto-sleep.
Use cases
- dance games, fitness and social applications
- mapping 24 skeletal points from a pair of trackers on the ankles
- tracking a single item in supported projects
Limitations and compatibility
The trackers work with PICO 4 Ultra, PICO 4 Pro, PICO 4 and PICO Neo3. Headset compatibility does not guarantee support in every app. In SteamVR, full-body data is transmitted through the current version of PICO Connect, and some games require support from their developer. The stated 20 ms latency, 5 cm average positional deviation and at least 98% step-recognition rate come from laboratory tests.
Alternatives
Lighthouse System with VIVE Tracker 3.0 requires more infrastructure, but it can better fit projects with established SteamVR tracking. VIVE Ultimate Tracker is a camera alternative without base stations. The choice should be based on the application and the data needed.
For businesses and schools
Before buying, confirm the headset model, system and PICO Connect versions, app list and acceptable measurement error. Consumer trackers should not be presented as a precise laboratory motion-capture system without validation.
