Vuzix M400C
AR Through a USB-C Host
Vuzix M400C is a monocular smart-glasses peripheral for a compatible host. Instead of its own computer and battery, it uses an Android smartphone or computer with a suitable USB-C port. Individual functions depend on the host and application. The SDK is intended for Android; similar support on Windows, macOS or Linux requires suitable software. It combines an OLED display, a 4K camera, microphones and head-orientation sensors.
Information Within View
The monocular display presents information in front of one eye. M400C uses a 640 × 360 nHD colour OLED display. It is an occluded display that covers part of the view in front of one eye, rather than a transparent waveguide display. Fit and readability must be checked for the person and workstation.

One Cable for the Host Connection
M400C is not a standalone computer. It uses a USB-C connection with DisplayPort Alternate Mode. The same cable can carry the display signal, camera data, other data and power. A compatible Android smartphone or computer must support USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode. Before purchase, also check software support for the UVC camera and controls; DisplayPort alone does not establish support for every function.

A Camera for 4K Video
The built-in camera captures the view in front of the wearer. It supports photos up to 12.8 MP and 4K video recording, as well as streaming 1080p video at 60 frames per second. Autofocus maintains sharpness as the observed subject changes, while image stabilisation reduces the effect of device movement on the recording. One device can therefore display information and capture the view from the wearer's perspective at the same time.
Buttons, Touch and Voice Control
You can choose from several ways to control the device, including four physical Android control buttons and a multi-touch touchpad. The device also supports voice control using three microphones with active noise cancellation. Audio is delivered through a speaker directed towards the user. This range of interfaces lets you choose the control method for the situation rather than relying solely on the touchscreen of a connected smartphone or computer.
Frequently asked questions
No. M400C is a USB-C peripheral and requires a compatible Android smartphone or computer. The host must support USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and the software needed for the camera and controls. The SDK documentation covers Android; support on another operating system must be checked.
No. The device has no integrated battery and draws all power from the connected host over USB-C. Its operating time therefore depends on the device to which M400C is connected.
A physical USB-C port is not enough. The computer or smartphone must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode and suitable software for the UVC camera and controls. Seeing an image on the display does not establish support for every function.
M400C works with M-Series mounts. This does not mean compatibility with every electrical accessory; we will confirm the appropriate mount and supplied kit in your quote.
